Upper School English teacher Leigh Glatt brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to her role. Before joining Collegiate, Glatt made her mark at the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School and St. Catherine’s, her high school alma mater. Despite initial skepticism regarding Glatt’s close connection to St. Catherine’s, she refutes any doubts of loyalty, proclaiming herself a convert. With a beaming smile, she explained, “I saw the light and crossed over.” This statement reflects not only her allegiance to Collegiate but also her confidence in the positive impact she brings to her current role.

Glatt provided some insight into different styles of education, comparing Maggie Walker and Collegiate. She said, “Academics at Maggie Walker is all about school, where Collegiate is a full holistic approach to education, not just about books. We are not just a school; we are a whole experience.” Glatt particularly enjoys working with Freshmen in English 9, whom she sees as vessels of boundless potential. She enjoys tapping into the curious and young Freshman minds to help propel them into confident people.

Glatt values trust and camaraderie among colleagues, mirroring her dedication to students. She mentioned, “I am never going to give up on my students.” This selfless commitment to students, she said, is present within every teacher at Collegiate and is what bonds the faculty. Collegiate’s faculty fosters mutual respect and warmth, supporting each other in and out of school. Glatt cherishes moments like the faculty band’s performance during professional development days. She said, We support each other not only in school, but also in other hobbies and in our lives outside of Collegiate.”
