Glory Days: A Family Favorite Bar and Grill

By Carter Hepp

If you love wings and sports, then Glory Days Grill may be the perfect spot for you. Glory Days is located right off Ridgefield Parkway and embraces the perfect American bar and grill spirit.

Since I grew up playing baseball at Tuckahoe Little League, Glory Days was always a hot spot after games. The warm yellow walls covered with sports memorabilia, such as jerseys from local high schools Collegiate, Benedictine, Godwin, and more, openly welcome family and friends from all around. The feeling you would get as a child when your parents agreed to go to Glory Days after a long day at the ballpark was indescribable.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Glory Days had a special feature that separated itself from the competing sports bars: the arcade. Although it’s gone now, walking into that brightly colored room was special. You would immediately notice the kayaking simulator and race car stations. I vividly remember asking my dad many times for five-dollar bills and trading them in for quarters to use in the arcade. My teammates and I would spend hours in the arcade, trying to rack up tickets to get the coolest prizes, while all of our parents would be having great conversations over dinner. Unfortunately, the arcade had to close, but it gave me memories I will never forget.

Since I’ve lived across the street from such a wonderful restaurant since I was five years old, there’s no way of telling how many times I’ve been there. Today, a newly-revamped menu features salads, appetizers, fried chicken, wings, burgers, steak, and seafood.

On a recent Saturday, Carter Mitchell (‘25), Harrison Baxter (‘25), Max DeWitt (‘25), Will Quinby (‘25), and I went to Glory Days. Due to it being a busy Saturday night, we had to wait about fifteen minutes before getting our table. Being a frequent customer, I already knew what I wanted hours beforehand. I ordered eight mild boneless wings with ranch and a side of fries. Mitchell ordered twelve bone-in wings with their signature Glory sauce, Baxter got loaded fries, and Quinby ordered Korean barbeque boneless wings.

When our entrées approached our table, I was ready to dive into my wings. Glory Days relatively recently decided that they were going to switch the type of chicken wings they would use. I prefer the old kind, as they were softer and typically had more sauce, but the current ones aren’t half bad. The amount of sauce was slightly disappointing, but they were still delicious. Additionally, they provide celery and carrots for those who can’t handle the heat. The fries were a perfect crispiness, with great seasoning as well. Wings: 8/10, fries: 10/10.

Similarly to the mild wings, the Korean Barbecue sauce was slightly lacking. After asking Quinby his thoughts on the texture of the chicken wings, and he said, “I love the crunchiness, although, not all the pieces were consistent, making it sort of a surprise on each bite.”

Although the experience was amazing for the most part, there was still one slip-up when it came to our order. Mitchell erroneously was served boneless wings instead of the bone-in wings he ordered. Mitchell still ate every one of his wings, stating, “The sauce was great. The mix of sweet and spicy on my tastebuds was delicious, but there wasn’t that much chicken in each of the wings. I give it a 6.15/10.”

Rounding things out were Baxter’s loaded fries, consisting of bacon and cheese, topped off with a little bit of seasoning. When describing the fries, Baxter said, “If you’re looking for a good appetizer to share with your friends or family, this is the one. The bacon’s crunchiness goes along perfectly with the gooey cheese and soft fries. I highly recommend it. 9/10.”

Overall, we all had a great time eating our food and watching sports. Glory Days always seems to hit the spot when I’m feeling hungry. The prices are another appealing aspect of the place. Whenever I go, the bill never escalates to an unreasonable amount, and there are often specials, such as Burger Mondays where all of the burgers are $7.99. If you and your family want to try something new, I suggest Glory Days.
