Renee Lewis has been working at Collegiate School since 2018. She works for Lexington Independents in McFall Hall, Collegiate’s Middle and Upper School cafeteria. Her favorite part of working at collegiate is “the kids.” Lewis prides herself in “recognizing kids’ faces and knowing them by name.” Speaking to her on an recent April morning, we immediately realized why everyone loves her. It is obvious that she is passionate about her job and genuinely cares about the students. When talking to Lewis, her bright smile never left her face. She dropped everything she was doing and willingly took time out of her day to talk to us, once again showing her genuine devotion to the students.

Lewis’s message to the Collegiate community is, “I do everything that I do to the best of my ability to make sure that the kids are happy.” Her main goal is to make everyone around her feel acknowledged. Lewis performs above expectations by putting her community before herself. Lewis sees hundreds of students and faculty every day and greets them with a smile, which is something that can easily go unnoticed, but it can make a difference in someone’s day. The kindness and selflessness that she carries herself with every day deserve more recognition.
