Reid Moyer (’26) has yet to face his hardest question of the day. Not calculus, not physics, but what to eat. Around 10:15 a.m. every day, Moyer makes his way to the Sharp Café to eat his version of a “brack”—a breakfast snack. Some days he goes with a chocolate croissant, other times he switches to a chicken biscuit, but his usual is bacon, egg, and cheese on an Asiago bagel.

When we asked Moyer why this was his top pick, he smiled and replied, “The bacon is cooked to perfection, the egg melts in my mouth, and the bagel itself fills that empty, greedy hole in my stomach.” And on top of that, Moyer explained, “The service is amazing, Renee [Lewis] always has a smile on her face, and her joyful and happy personality is something I can count on to brighten my day.” Food is fuel for the mind and fuel for the soul.

Moyer’s Asiago bagel does much more than cure his hunger. Moyer remarked, “I find it hard to focus on an empty stomach, but I can always rely on the café to power my mind and kickstart my day.” Moyer is quick to explain that he has not always been a frequent buyer at café, but he admits that his addiction to his “bracks” has ramped up since the beginning of his Senior year. Recently, Moyers’ parents received a bill totalling over $500. His parents initially believed it was fraud or a terrible mistake, but in reality, their son was to blame.

Moyers’ craving for the café has proved to be expensive this year, but when asked about it, he made it clear that, “Although it may seem expensive, everything I have gained has made it well worth the cost. The café provides a much-needed boost to my day, and no matter what I’m going through, I can always count on Renee to lift up my mood, and the food to satisfy my hunger.”
