Audio Essay: The 1989 San Francisco Earthquake

SF89Here is another installment from Creative Non-Fiction, the Upper School English elective where students create audio essays. This is Jackson Negus’ Honors project, as described by Jackson:

This piece is about the 1989 earthquake that struck the Bay Area of California. In addition to using sources from broadcasts, I interviewed my parents, who lived in San Francisco at the time of the quake. I was influenced by the style of Joe Richman, a well-known audio essay producer whom I studied for my Honors Project.
